BiosphereCarbon Seminar series [December 2019]
10/12/2019 - 17/12/2019, Brussels-Ghent-Tervuren Belgium
Tropical rainforests comprise nearly half of the world’s vegetation carbon. Intact tropical forests represent a carbon sink at a level that is higher than other vegetation types. Tropical forests absorb 20-30 % of the world carbon emissions. The issues of tropical forest stocks, sinks and sources are therefore a central topic in international policy debates on climate changes. UNESCO Biosphere Reserves are living laboratories for research on climate changes.
Over two weeks, the BiosphereCarbon project organizes seven seminars aimed at underpinning carbon focused research in tropical rainforests. These will be given by international experts in their field, with subjects ranging from forensic timber identification to biogeochemistry of tropical montane forests.
Below you can find a list of the seminars with practical information. If you are interested in attending, please send an e-mail to Leen Van Hirtum .
